Begins with the same discovery of the island by Christopher Columbus on October 28, 1492. It can be said that it was a Spanish convert who was the first European to set foot on Cuban soil. On November 2, 1492, Columbus sent Luis de Torres (Jewish convert) along with other companions to bring him reports about the inhabitants of the island, its king, its resources. Luis de Torres was the interpreter of the expedition.
